Riana is very resourceful and also trusts in her judgment. While she does want to listen to her family, she also does what she thinks is right which may be different (although in one episode, her mother reminds her that character trait takes after her father). Riana also takes risks but isn't reckless. Riana also sees the merit of the values of her family and her village and can defend them against Paul's occasional condescension that her lifestyle is not 'modern' enough
