Day 9

Post by Fanat » 23 Feb 2020, 09:26

In the morning, I took a bus to the City. Then I took a train from Town Hall to Circular Quay:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

There, I took a ferry to Manly:

Image

Image

Image

Image

In about half an hour, I arrived to the Manly ferry wharf:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Then I moved on:

Image

This is The Corso:

Image

Image

And this is Manly War Memorial:

Image

Image

Image

This is Manly Town Hall:

Image

This is where I came from:

Image

Image

This is the Corso opposite side:

Image

Image

From here and to the Pacific, The Corso is for pedestrians only:

Image

Note OPEN 7 DAYS и BOTTLE SHOP plates on my picture. This is where Kathy and Josh were walking:

Image

Shops are constantly changing so now this place is not recognizable. I recognized it only from the house number (21).

Here we see St Matthew’s Anglican Church:

Image

Image

Image

At the end of this building, there used to be Corso Jewellery in Spellbinder:

Image

Image

The opposite side of this street:

Image

The column with the thin yellow line appeared in Spellbinder:

Image

Image

This is where Ashka was walking:

Image

Image

Image

Image

And that tree:

Image

Image

Those buildings:

Image

Compare these two pictures, they show the same buildings:

Image

Image

In my understanding, the following pictures show the same buildings too but it is difficult to see:

Image

Image

This is where Corso Jewellery used to be:

Image

Image

The newsagency next to that place:

Image

And here you see the hotel where Ashka was staying in season 2:

Image

Some pictures from the same point as above:

Image

Image

Image

And the hotel:

Image

It was rebuilt but it is still recognizable.

I think it is the bar inside:

Image

The brown building is just next to the hotel along the Corso:

Image

Image

The hotel:

Image

This is where I came from:

Image

Image

And the installation in front of the hotel:

Image

Image

Again:

Image

This is where I came from:

Image

Our heroes were walking here:

Image

More pictures:

Image

Image

Note the stairs inside:

Image

Probably Kathy and Josh were walking there.

This hotel building hosts The New Brighton Hotel nowadays. But you cannot book a room there because it is just some bars and clubs inside, including Shark Bar shown in Spellbinder.

Some pictures from season 1:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Today, everything is different there.

Then I went to the street that is perpendicular to The Corso and joins it just at the hotel:

Image

The hotel:

Image

Here, Ashka was driving:

Image

Image

Image

The hotel facade was changed:

Image

Image

Image

This is how it used to be:

Image

This door was probably shown in Spellbinder:

Image

View from the opposite side:

Image

I moved on:

Image

I think ATTIK is where Green's EATERY in Spellbinder used to be:

Image

Image

The hotel:

Image

Image

Apparently Ashka visited one of these shops:

Image

Image

Image

More pictures:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Again, that door:

Image

Image

And Ashka went there:

Image

Image

Then I came back to the brown building.

Image

It was shown in both seasons:

Image

Image

Again:

Image

Then I walked to Manly Beach. This is the Corso from that beach:

Image

Image

Image

And the beach:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Then I came back to The Corso.

Image

Image

The hotel:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Then I went to that perpendicular street again:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Ashka probably went there:

Image

Image

Here we see one more street:

Image

Image

Image

Image

I moved on.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Look at that shot from season 2:

Image

Image

Image

And that is from season 1:

Image

Image

I moved on.

Image

Bambino is exactly where Tandy Electronics in Spellbinder used to be:

Image

Image

Look at that:

Image

Image

Image

More shots from season 1:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Tandy Electronics used to be here:

Image

Image

This is where Ashka crossed the road:

Image

Image

Image

The shops:

Image

The opposite side:

Image

This is how it used to be:

Image

Ray White office used to be approximately here:

Image

Today, First National Real Estate Manly Prestige office is here.

Image

Manly Congregational Church:

Image

This church was shown in Spellbinder:

Image

Katrina was here:

Image

Image

Image

And the real estate agency:

Image

Image

Note Divine Nails in my picture above. There used to be Florist in Spellbinder on its place:

Image

Thought the real estate agency is different today, it looks very much the same:

Image

Image

Towards The Corso:

Image

Then I went to Bain’s shop:

Image

Today there is Desire Books shop there:

Image

The door and the tile are still the same:

Image

Image

Just next to it, an accident with a police officer took place:

Image

Image

The closed gates are right where the officer fell down:

Image

Image

The building between the gates and the shop also appeared in Spellbinder but it has changed much:

Image

Image

Image

This is just next to the shop:

Image

House No. 3 was in Spellbinder:

Image

This is that street:

Image

Image

Then I walked to the place where Josh was hiding from a police officer chasing him:

Image

Image

The showcase:

Image

On the other side of the road, we see a park:

Image

Image

Image

You should note the swing in this park in my picture, just like in Spellbinder:

Image

And this is where Josh was hiding:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Then I went back to Bain’s shop and took some pictures from its door in different directions.

To the right:

Image

These brick houses appeared in Spellbinder:

Image

Image

This parking place is just opposite the shop:

Image

Image

It was in Spellbinder:

Image

Image

And a view to the left:

Image

Image

This street corner was in Spellbinder:

Image

Image

Now let’s look at the shop again. Just next to it, there is a very similar place:

Image

The book shop used to be in there:

Image

And this is where Bain’s shop used to be:

Image

Image

Image

Then I walked to that place:

Image

In my opinion, the camera man climbed up that red thing in order to shoot that:

Image

This is around that place:

Image

Then I began walking away from this area.

Image

Image

The hotel:

Image

Image

Image

The Corso:

Image

As you remember, Riana and Katrina visited Sportsgirl shop. One of these shops is on the Corso:

Image

But Riana and Katrina apparently visited this shop somewhere else.

Finally, I left The Corso.

Image

Image

Image

Then I walked to the bus stop. While waiting for my bus, I took some pictures:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Then I took a bus to Woodland St after Ernest St stop. From there, I went to the house of Vicky Morgan. When I was walking, I took the pictures:

Image

Image

And here you see that house:

Image

Image

Image

Here it is!

Image

Image

Image

Something has changed but the house is still recognizable.

This tree probably appeared in Spellbinder:

Image

Image

More pictures:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

I moved on:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Then I went to the house of Kathy. The area was very nice:

Image

And this is the beginning of the street where Kathy lived!

Image

I am walking along that street:

Image

Image

This is just opposite her house:

Image

Apparently here our heroes were walking:

Image

And this is the house of Kathy!

Image

The owner put the fence. However the gates were open so I could see a little bit more.

Image

Image

Somewhere behind that greenery, Josh had a football lesson:

Image

Image

Kathy was hiding somewhere here when she was looking at the doubles:

Image

The house of Tony is right across the road:

Image

Image

The pool must be just above that wall:

Image

Image

Image

And this is where he was washing his car:

Image

Image

More pictures:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

This view is quite recognizable:

Image

Image

From that place, I went to Dobroyd Head. The views were fantastic!

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

From here, you see Manly:

Image

The Pacific:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

This is where Tony was driving from in the last episode:

Image

The other side of the road:

Image

Image

The harbour:

Image

Kathy was walking here:

Image

This fence consists of two sections. Each of them has the following ending part:

Image

One might think that Kathy’s friends were standing here. But this is not true. They were standing at the other section:

Image

Image

Look at that:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Tony was driving there:

Image

Image

Look at these barriers:

Image

Image

Image

This is just opposite the place where Kathy and her friends were talking:

Image

Image

Image

I went up there:

Image

Image

Image

This is where I came from:

Image

Image

Image

Image

South Head:

Image

Image

Look at that:

Image

Image

Kathy was here:

Image

Image

This is the last frame from the last episode:

Image

Image

And more pictures:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Then I went back to the bus stop:

Image

Image

I walked near the house of Vicky again:

Image

Image

Image

Image

I moved on:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Then I took a bus from New St at Bungaloe Ave stop to the Manly wharf where I took a ferry to Circular Quay:

Image

Then I took a train to Rosehill station. I was going to take a look at the location where the Clyde Refinery used to be. This refinery appeared in the first episode of season 1 when Paul and others were going to the camp by bus. Unfortunately this refinery was demolished so I just wanted to look at what remained.

The old train I took:

Image

I changed trains at Clyde station:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

I looked at the train window to see if there was any possibility to walk to the refinery location. Unfortunately, it was an industrial zone all around. There were practically no sidewalks along the roads. The roads themselves, although they were quite narrow and free of cars, also did not look attractive for walking. Consequently, I decided not to walk to the refinery location.

I took some pictures of the Rosehill station:

Image

Image

Image

Then I took a train to Beecroft.

At Strathfield, I had to change trains. That time I managed to take a picture just like in Spellbinder:

Image

Image

Image

The Regional train nearby:

Image

Image

Then I returned to Beecroft.

Day 10

Post by Fanat » 22 Mar 2020, 13:15

For this day, I had quite big plans. Since it was Saturday and buses to the City started to run late, I went there by train (from Beecroft station to Wynyard station).

Image

Image

At Wynyard, I went to the bus stop, took a B-Line bus, and went to Manly Vale. From there, I went to the Manly Dam.

This is where I was walking:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

And this is our lake!

Image

Image

The series was shot on the south-west shore (it is on the left in the next photo), and the north-east shore (it is on the right in the next photo) was just in the background.

Image

The dam itself is over there:

Image

Image

A view in the other direction:

Image

Then I went for a walk along the south-west shore where Spellbinder was shot.

Image

The dam:

Image

Picnic area:

Image

Such places reminded me the series, and I saw many of them along the shore:

Image

Image

However, the shooting hardly took place right in that place.

The other shore:

Image

Wildlife:

Image

Image

And this is where the ad was shot:

Image

Image

Look at the pin next to the road:

Image

The other shore:

Image

Image

If you look closely, you can see large stones on that shore. They were in the series in this place:

Image

This where the truck arrived from:

Image

Image

Image

I was walking from there:

Image

And Sun was running from there:

Image

Image

Image

Note the small covered-with-trees cape right above his head:

Image

I saw this cape:

Image

Image

Then I had to walk through the forest because now it was impossible to move along the lake:

Image

Image

Image

Then I returned to the lake:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

After that, I had to go back to the forest again:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

And again, back to the lake:

Image

Image

Image

And this is where Sun met two guys!

Look at these stones!

Image

Image

Image

The are exactly the same! Moreover, the trees in background are very recognizable!

The black colour corresponds to the fireplace:

Image

Image

A way down to the water was overgrown with trees:

Image

Image

However, a sand strip is still here:

Image

When they shot Spellbinder here, the water level was not that high so Sun was able to run away:

Image

Image

More pictures from that place:

Image

Image

Image

Image

This is where Sun went from:

Image

Image

This place has changed since then but these stones are still here:

Image

The lake:

Image

Then I moved on:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

And then I reached that place:

Image

Apparently Mek arrived right to that place:

Image

Image

The other shore:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

The forest behind me:

Image

Image

I think this tree was shown in Spellbinder:

Image

Image

Image

Image

More pictures:

Image

Image

Image

Then I moved on:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

And this is another Spellbinder location:

Image

Image

More pictures from there:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

In the following picture, the skyline of the far shore is exactly the same as in Spellbinder fishing scene:

Image

Image

However, I believe that this scene was shot a little further, and the skyline similarity is just a visual effect.

More pictures:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Another picnic area:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

And finally I reached the place where Kathy and her parents were staying at the camp!

A creek:

Image

The camp site has changed since Spellbinder. However, many details are still the same.

For example, look at the stones at the other shore:

Image

Image

A view of the lake from the camp site:

Image

The right half of the next picture obviously corresponds to Spellbinder frame:

Image

Image

Again:

Image

A way down to the water:

Image

Image

Image

Image

This is where I came from:

Image

More pictures:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Apparently the camp was right here:

Image

Image

Image

Today this place is difficult to recognize.

Then I walked along that creek:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Perhaps Kathy was here in episode 1 but I'm not sure:

Image

Image

There is a very similar creek in the north-west part of the lake (just check your maps) so this scene could be shot there.

And I moved on:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Finally I reached the sign warning about snakes so I went back to the camp site:

Image

I tried to take the same pictures as in Spellbinder:

Image

Image

Image

Image

This view is quite recognizable but I accidentally moved my hand with camera so the picture is not really nice:

Image

Image

Look at the tree with several trunks:

Image

I believe that Kathy and Josh were taking pictures just next to it (but from the other side):

Image

And more pictures of the camp site:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

All this area is protected, it is the Manly Dam Reserve.

Then I went back to the bus stop.

Image

Image

Image

I reached Manly Vale bus stop, took a B-Line bus and went to Narrabeen bus stop, to Narrabeen Lakes. Apparently they were shown in Spellbinder.

I went for a walk clockwise along the lakes. It was not possible to make a full circle because the distance is very large.

Along my route, trees grew near the water and even right in it:

Image

Image

Image

This place looks quite familiar for Spellbinder fans:

Image

Image

However, there many such places around Narrabeen Lakes so I did not find the exact Spellbinder location but I had a very pleasant walk around.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Not very far from where I was walking, there is Sydney Academy of Sport and Recreation, where, apparently, Spellbinder was shot too. In the series, it was called New South Wales Academy of Sport. Though I wanted to visit it, it was almost impossible for two reasons. Firstly, Google Street View says that this academy is located in a closed area. Secondly, a road to this academy doesn't have a sidewalk.

Then I walked to the same bus stop and took the B-Line bus:

Image

I went to Mona Vale:

Image

Then I went to Village Park stop, took a bus and went to Booralie Rd Shops stop in Terrey Hills.

This suburb is, as you will see now, quite quiet. The City is 20 km away. Buses do not go very often in this suburb, and it was Saturday. I had less than an hour to explore filming locations because I wanted to catch the next bus and not to wait for the next after next one. Fortunately, both filming locations are very close to the bus stop.

First, I rushed to the place where Ashka charged her powerstone. Along the way, I saw this medical centre:

Image

The central square:

Image

I moved on:

Image

Image

And here you see the familiar stairway!

Image

Image

Image

Image

The decorative balls, most likely, were set up for the shooting only.

I went downstairs:

Image

I found Terrey Hills Oval sports ground there:

Image

The stairway:

Image

I went back:

Image

This is the place where Ashka charged her powerstone:

Image

Image

The road:

Image

Probably our heroes rode there in the car but the place cannot be identified from the frame:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

The brown building in front was also shown from the other side in Spellbinder. There was a bus station. I’ll go there soon.

And to the right we see a kindergarten:

Image

Then I went to the central square:

Image

Here we see a construction that Sun was climbing around:

Image

Image

Image

The place is called Frank Beckman Reserve:

Image

The shops:

Image

Image

Note the cafe in the middle of the following picture:

Image

It was shown in Spellbinder but the building was a little bit smaller then:

Image

Image

To the left from the cafe:

Image

And this is where the bus station used to be:

Image

Image

Image

Today, Terrey Hills Community Centre occupies this building.

More pictures:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Then I went back to the central square:

Image

Compare:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

More pictures:

Image

Image

Look at that:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Two constructions used to be joined with some thing above:

Image

Today that thing no longer exists:

Image

I think that the ticket office was in the bus station building:

Image

Image

But I didn't find the entrance shown in Spellbinder:

Image

Image

Apparently the building was rebuilt.

More pictures:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

The I went back to the bus stop:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

My bus arrived soon. I went to Gordon station, and from there, I walked to the house of Paul!

Image

Image

Image

The Gordon suburb is very nice.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

And this is the street where Paul used to live:

Image

His house is where the street bends:

Image

Image

And here we are!

Image

Image

They changed a fence but the building is absolutely the same!

To the right:

Image

Image

To the left:

Image

Image

The house on the left:

Image

Image

This is the view from the house of Paul:

Image

Image

Image

And in the other direction:

Image

The sidewalk:

Image

Image

Image

Image

The houses opposite:

Image

Image

Again, the house of Paul:

Image

Image

Image

Image

More pictures:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Then I went back to the station. But before I left, I took more pictures:

Image

Image

Near the train station, I found this building:

Image

Image

Image

It is a police office. It is obviously not from from Spellbinder.

Here we see Ray White!

Image

Then I went to the platform of the Gordon station:

Image

Image

The station building is the same as at Glenbrook. A part of this building is occupied by this exhibition:

Image

Image

My train arrived soon, and I went to Beecroft.

Day 11

Post by Fanat » 22 Mar 2020, 14:13

In the morning, I went to the City by bus and took a train from Town Hall to Circular Quay. From there, I went for a walk.

Josie was drawing approximately here:

Image

Image

Image

Image

This is the statue of Captain William Bligh:

Image

Image

Image

Then I went to The Rocks area.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Riana walked there, and I will explore that place soon:

Image

Now I went to the Sydney Harbour Bridge:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

I went up to the Pylon Lookout:

Image

Image

The views are fantastic from there:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Next to that high building, Ashka got a bike:

Image

Josie and Ben had to live in one of those wharves:

Image

More pictures:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

This is the exhibition inside the pylon:

Image

Then I went down to the bridge. It was windy so I decided not to walk to the other side of the Harbour but to go back to the Rocks.

This is where Riana was walking:

Image

Image

Australian Hotel is on the other side:

Image

Two levels for pedestrians:

Image

More pictures:

Image

Image

Image

Compare that:

Image

Image

More pictures:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Look at that!

Image

Image

More pictures:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Riana ran away here:

Image

Image

Image

Image

I walked along this sidewalk to its end, climbed the steps (they can be seen in the picture), turned around and took this shot:

Image

More pictures:

Image

Image

Image

Then I walked around The Rocks:

Image

Image

Image

Image

After that, I returned to Circular Quay and took a train to Wynyard.

This is Wynyard station:

Image

Image

Image

I walked around the City and visited some shops there. After that, I took a train from Wynyard to Beecroft.

Day 12

Post by Fanat » 31 Mar 2020, 16:34

In the morning, I took a bus to the City. Then I went from Town Hall to Sydney Central by commuter train and took a bus from there to Military Rd near Millennium Ct bus stop.

From there, I walked a little bit towards Port Botany. Since father of Alex worked there, I decided to take a look at that. But I did not see anything really interesting there. Above all, Port Botany is an industrial zone so I was not able to enter that area as easily as Paul and Alex did.

Consequently, I went back to the bus stop, namely to Military Rd opp Botany Cemetery, and took a bus to Green Square station. From there, I went to Lakemba station by train. At Sydney Central, I changed trains:

Image

Image

From Lakemba, I went to Roselands Shopping Centre shown in Spellbinder:

Image

Here it is:

Image

This is where Riana was:

Image

Image

Image

The ceiling was changed but many other details are still the same. Look at the handrails:

Image

I took the same escalator as Riana did once:

Image

Image

Image

Also I found Sportsgirl there:

Image

Image

Image

This store was shown in Spellbinder:

Image

It is now impossible to say whether that specific store was shot or not because much could have changed since then.

Then I went outside and began to explore the place where Riana once again met Josie and Ben:

Image

Image

Image

Look at that:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Again:

Image

Image

More pictures:

Image

Image

The light bulbs are still here!

And even the waste bin is probably still the same!

Image

More pictures:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

The next picture was made from Roselands Shopping Centre bus stop:

Image

Then I took a bus to Moorefields Rd after Ada St stop. From there, I went to All Saints Greek Orthodox Grammar School. Its building used to be abandoned many years ago, and Ashka was keeping Riana in there.

This building is just behind the trees:

Image

And at that moment I was standing just next to the house where the old lady who called police lived.

Image

Image

Something is different today but the house is generally the same as in Spellbinder:

Image

Image

Image

Image

The police car went in that direction:

Image

Image

Again:

Image

Today, the old lady would not see the school building because of the trees:

Image

The school name:

Image

Image

Image

The sidewalk:

Image

And here it is!

Image

Image

The authentic Spellbinder atmosphere cannot be felt here anymore because the building was restored.

Image

Image

Image

Image

I went around the school fence:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Then I went to Kingsgrove station. When I was walking there, I found Kingsgrove North HS bus stop so I took a bus to the station.

This is next to Kingsgrove station:

Image

The platform:

Image

Image

From there, I took a train to Museum station:

Image

Image

Image

Then I took a train to Lindfield station. It is the suburb where Katrina lived.

This is Lindfield:

Image

Then I walked to the house of Katrina. The suburb is really nice:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

This house, not really far from Katrina's, was shown in Spellbinder:

Image

Image

Our heroes were walking here:

Image

Image

This is just opposite the house of Katrina:

Image

Image

Image

The fence just behind the blue car apparently was shown in Spellbinder:

Image

Look at the fence to the left of the tree:

Image

Here it is!

Image

And this is the entrance to the house of Katrina:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

The other side of that street:

Image

Image

The next picture was shot through the gates:

Image

Image

And the same gates seen from the other side of the street:

Image

Image

The large trees today does not allow one to admire the view of this house:

Image

Image

Image

Then I went to the place where Magnetronix was shot. In fact, Film Australia studio used to be there but it was demolished in 2015-2016.

The flowers:

Image

Image

Above the railway:

Image

Image

More pictures from my way:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Here you see a huge empty space:

Image

Image

This is exactly where Film Australia studio used to be and where they shot Magnetronix. It is a pity that all that was demolished.

Image

Image

But this place is easily recognizable:

Image

Image

More pictures:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Then I went to the railway station. On my way there, I walked at the place where our heroes were going in taxi:

Image

The huge buildings far away cannot be seen from there today because of the trees:

Image

By the way, these buildings are in Chatswood, and I had visited that place a couple of days before.

Image

Image

I moved on:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Finally, I reached Roseville station and took a train to Beecroft.

This is the picture of Chatswood from the train window:

Day 13

Post by Fanat » 31 Mar 2020, 19:21

I took a bus to the City and then went from Town Hall to Circular Quay by train. After that, I explored the location where Josie was drawing.

The tree still looks the same:

Image

Image

Here you can see the fantastic morning hues and some familiar details from Spellbinder:

Image

Image

Image

Josie was here:

Image

Image

Image

And here you see the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia:

Image

Image

Image

Image

The fence is the same too:

Image

Image

And it seems to be the Sydney Cove Passenger Terminal:

Image

Josie and Ben ran away in that direction:

Image

Image

More pictures:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Then I took a ferry to Manly. When I was going there, I took some pictures of Spirit of Tasmania:

Image

Image

In Manly, I went to the bus stop and took a bus to Sydney Rd before Condamine St stop. From there, I walked to the house of Tony. The thing was that I didn't like its pictures I made previously so I decided to take more pictures of this house.

I took some pictures while I was walking to the house of Tony:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Finally I reached his house and took these pictures:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Then I went back to the bus. On my way, I walked near the house of Vicky so I took its picture again:

Image

The bus timetable:

Image

I took a bus from Woodland St opp Bareena Dr stop to Manly Wharf. From there, I took another bus to Warringah Rd at Government Rd stop. From there, I went to take a look at the house where the studio of Carl Morgan was shot.

This is where I was walking:

Image

Image

And this is where the studio was shot:

Image

Image

Image

Image

It seems to be an office centre today.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Here you see the yellow wall inside that was shown in Spellbinder:

Image

The next two pictures were made from this studio building:

Image

Image

The fence seems to be still the same:

Image

Then I went to Warringah Rd at Ellis Rd stop and took a bus to Dee Why Shops. From there, I walked to Dee Why stop nearby and took the B-Line bus:

Image

I got off at Mona Vale and took another bus to Gladstone Rd at King St. From there, I went to the Royal Motor Yacht Club Broken Bay that was shown in Spellbinder!

The sign:

Image

The club is down there, next to Broken Bay:

Image

At first I went into the yacht club building, to its lobby. I asked there if I could take some pictures around the marina. I was told that it was allowed. Great! I went to the marina.

This is the building I have just visited:

Image

In Spellbinder, it looked different but I think they shot it right here anyway:

Image

Image

The yachts:

Image

Image

And this the place where Bain and Barry fell into water:

Image

Image

In fact, one can find several such places around the yacht club. They are very similar so I cannot guarantee that Spellbinder was shot at that specific place.

The yachts:

Image

Image

Image

Look at the pins with a yellow line:

Image

They appeared in Spellbinder:

Image

This building appeared in Spellbinder too:

Image

Image

The parking place:

Image

Image

Image

Image

More pictures:

Image

Image

Image

Image

One of the ways to the yachts:

Image

Something like that appeared in Spellbinder:

Image

Then I walked away from the water:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Then I went back to the bus stop taking pictures:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

I reached Trafalgar Park bus stop. This place is just next to it:

Image

Then I took a bus to Village Park and walked to Mona Vale stop (for B-Line):

Image

I took the B-Line bus and went to the City. Then I went from Wynyard to Beecroft by train.

Day 14

Post by Fanat » 01 Apr 2020, 19:57

It was the last full day of my stay in Sydney. I had to explore all the remaining Spellbinder locations.

In the morning, I went to the City by bus and took a train from Town Hall to Circular Quay.

A few morning shots of Circular Quay:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Then I walked around the Sydney Opera House.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

More pictures:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

This is the Sydney Harbour Bridge beginning:

Image

Park Hyatt Sydney:

Image

Image

The Opera House:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Look at that:

Image

Image

The path and grass were changed:

Image

Image

Image

The fence is still the same:

Image

Look at that:

Image

Image

The balcony is still the same too:

Image

Image

Look at that:

Image

Image

Note the building with tower:

Image

Image

Look at that:

Image

Image

The bridge:

Image

The TV people were making their report:

Image

The Opera House:

Image

Image

One more picture:

Image

Then I walked under the bridge:

Image

Note the buildings on the other shore:

Image

Image

More pictures of the bridge:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Then I walked around the area where this bridge begins:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Then I went up to Observatory Hill:

Image

Image

Compare that:

Image

Image

More pictures:

Image

Image

Image

Many new buildings have been built on the other shore since Spellbinder time.

There is a small park on Observatory Hill:

Image

Image

Image

Compare that:

Image

Image

And one more location:

Image

Look at that:

Image

Image

The benches are different today.

Again:

Image

The fence is a little bit different today too:

Image

Image

This is the view to the former BP site:

Image

Image

Again:

Image

Image

More pictures:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Then I walked towards the highway that enters the bridge:

Image

Image

There are more skyscrapers here today than in Spellbinder time.

More pictures:

Image

Image

The bridge:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

This is the view in the opposite direction:

Image

Compare that:

Image

Image

More pictures:

Image

Image

Then I moved on.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Look at that:

Image

Image

This is where Riana was walking:

Image

The modern building on the right didn't exist when Spellbinder was being shot:

Image

Again:

Image

The police car went from there:

Image

Image

Image

The way down to the wharf:

Image

Image

The police car went there:

Image

Image

Image

The way down:

Image

Note the blue house far away:

Image

Image

This house appeared in Spellbinder in some other episodes, and I will explore it very soon.

I went down:

Image

Image

Image

Image

The wharf area:

Image

The street:

Image

Note the arch at the level of the 2nd (ground+1) floor, where the bridge begins:

Image

Image

Our heroes were walking right there:

Image

When they crossed that bridge, they entered the abandoned building. Today this building and other buildings of this wharf have been renovated.

Something old:

Image

The houses on the opposite side:

Image

Image

This is the beginning of the bridge:

Image

Image

This is Walsh Bay:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

And this is Spellbinder location:

Image

Image

This is that blue house I wrote about earlier:

Image

This house was renovated but it is recognizable:

Image

Generally speaking, the Walsh Bay Wharves were renovated. One cannot find something like that here anymore:

Image

Fortunately, the old buildings were just renovated but not demolished.

The fisherman was sitting here:

Image

Image

A view in the opposite direction:

Image

The street nearby:

Image

Image

The blue house today is connected to the building next to it:

Image

Image

Image

This is where Riana was walking:

Image

Image

Note the building in background:

Image

Image

Look at that:

Image

Image

Riana was here:

Image

Image

More pictures:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Note the modern building on the right:

Image

And this is how it looked many years ago (in background):

Image

Then I walked to the other side of the wharf building:

Image

Image

Image

Look at that:

Image

Image

Opposite direction:

Image

And again:

Image

The next wharf building:

Image

Note the columns:

Image

Image

Again:

Image

More pictures:

Image

Image

Image

This is how the next wharf building looked many years ago:

Image

More pictures:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

This side looks towards the harbour:

Image

Image

Then I returned to the side where the blue house is:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

It seems the passage used to be here:

Image

Image

More pictures:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Then I went to the road.

Paul was here:

Image

Image

Look at that:

Image

Image

Image

This is the way to the wharf:

Image

This is how it looked many years ago:

Image

Look at that:

Image

Image

Image

Image

That bridge again:

Image

Then I moved to the City taking pictures around:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Riana was here:

Image

Image

The art installation is still the same!

Image

And this pavilion is the same!

Image

Image

The buildings:

Image

Look at that:

Image

Image

More pictures:

Image

Image

Image

Then I went to Wynyard station. I took that picture when walking:

Image

I took a train from Wynyard to Sydney Central:

Image

Platform 8 appeared in Spellbinder:

Image

Image

Image

This is the way to the station building from platform 8:

Image

Image

Look at that:

Image

Image

And that:

Image

Image

And that!

Image

Image

The station building:

Image

Then I went outside and explored the area.

Today, trams go here:

Image

Many years ago, Paul was right here:

Image

And the police car went here too:

Image

Image

Look at that:

Image

Image

Image

Trams go in that direction:

Image

A part of that pavilion appeared in Spellbinder:

Image

Look at that:

Image

Image

Image

The tram:

Image

Alex and Katrina were running here:

Image

Image

Image

Something is different today.

Image

Look at that:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

The tram stop:

Image

The tower:

Image

Then I moved to the other station location.

Image

Riana was running out of there:

Image

Image

Paul was here too:

Image

Image

Look at that:

Image

Image

Image

Note the church tower:

Image

Image

Trams go from there:

Image

Our heroes were walking here:

Image

Image

Then I moved on.

Image

Everybody should remember that picture from Spellbinder:

Image

Image

Image

Image

The street:

Image

Image

Then I went to the hotel where Ashka was staying in season 1. The receptionist allowed me to take some pictures in the hall.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Then I went outside.

Image

The building next to the hotel is different today:

Image

Image

But the hotel building is still the same:

Image

Image

The entrance:

Image

Look at that:

Image

Image

Image

Image

The views from the hotel entrance:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Look at that:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Then I went to the location where Josie and Ben managed to get the name of their father.

Image

Image

That's it!

Image

Image

Image

Image

Generally, everything is still the same:

Image

Image

The opposite direction:

Image

Image

Image

The red building is recognizable:

Image

Image

Then I went back to the hotel and walked to its back yard. This is where Ashka had a fight with Paul and Alex:

Image

It was not possible to move any further, as one can see. In Spellbinder, this place was shown from the opposite side (just switch left and right in your mind):

Image

This is where I walked from:

Image

Katrina was here:

Image

Crystal Palace Hotel is of a different colour today:

Image

Image

This is the way to the fight location:

Image

Then I went back to the hotel entrance:

Image

Image

Image

Image

After that, I walked around the City:

Image

This is Christ Church St Laurence:

Image

Note the station tower:

Image

I walked to Sydney Central and took a tram to Fish Market:

Image

Image

From there, I walked to the Sydney Fish Market:

Image

Image

I had my dinner there. The fish was delicious!

This is the area around the market:

Image

Image

Image

Right from the fish market, I noticed the school from Spellbinder:

Image

The Anzac bridge:

Image

Then I walked to the school location. When walking, I found that abandoned ruins that appeared Spellbinder:

Image

Image

This is the area around it:

Image

Image

The trams go over there:

Image

Nice:

Image

That thing appeared in Spellbinder too:

Image

Image

Image

The harbour:

Image

Image

Image

And the school:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Some buildings on the opposite side of the harbour appeared in Spellbinder:

Image

Image

And this is next to the school:

Image

Then I walked around the school territory.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Look at that:

Image

Image

And that!

Image

Image

Image

I moved on.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

It seems to be the school entrance for cars:

Image

Image

It is Sydney Secondary College that occupies that site today. More specific, it is Blackwattle Bay Campus:

Image

Image

The street:

Image

The school:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Note the balcony:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Everything is the same today!

Image

Image

Image

More pictures:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Sports ground:

Image

Image

The yellow building appeared in Spellbinder:

Image

Image

The school:

Image

The Anzac bridge:

Image

Image

More pictures of that area:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

After that, I went to Glebe. Some episodes were shot there.

I really liked this suburb:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

I reached the location:

Image

Riana and others were walking here:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Then they reached this corner:

Image

Image

The car with bad guys went there:

Image

Image

Image

Then Riana and others ran away there:

Image

These new buildings didn't exist when Spellbinder was being shot:

Image

The fence is recognizable:

Image

Image

Image

Riana and others entered that gate:

Image

Image

There used to be the wall that separated two land plots.

More pictures:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Then I went to the back side of that house. Riana and others apparently ran out of one of these doors on the right hand side:

Image

Image

More pictures from that area:

Image

Image

Image

Then I went to Jubilee Park tram stop. I found there the shopping centre in the former historic tram depot:

Image

Image

The buildings there:

Image

The tram stop:

Image

Image

Image

The sports field:

Image

I took a tram to Sydney Central and changed there for a train to Beecroft.

Closing remarks

Post by Fanat » 01 Apr 2020, 19:58

It was the day of my departure from Australia. In the morning, I finally met my host lady. She was really kind and gave me a lift to Beecroft train station. From there, I took a train to the airport. My journey to Australia came to its end.

Now I'd like to make some closing remarks.

I really liked Australians. They are very polite, friendly, and helpful.

I really liked Sydney. Though it is a huge city, the atmosphere is really calm there. My favourite places in Sydney are those where one can observe and admire the views of Sydney Harbour and the Pacific.

I am absolutely happy that I have visited Australia and explored all Spellbinder locations there.

I would like to thank everybody who has read this story. Just like Kathy said to her classmates in the final scene in season 2, I can say about my journey to Australia that it was like being in another world!
