Yes, I think you're correct. The original Indiegogo goal was £15,000.Zoe Isn't A Dog wrote: ↑06 Apr 2026, 15:26Am I correct in saying the kickstarter crowdfunder has now exceeded the original goal amount on Indiegogo?

Hi All,
Only just discovered this forum (I feel like I'm about 4 years late!) having gone down a rabbit hole after my latest GFT/TE rewatch and seeing it mentioned in some Youtube comments. I've binged this entire thread and it's an absolute gold mine of information!
'76 baby from the UK here, so coincidentally I was the same age as Alana (and I assume Jenny too) in 1990/1991 when we first got TGFT in the UK. Loved Tomorrow's End even more 2 years later in '93, but Spellbinder passed me by as I would have been too old (I was at Uni I think when it came on over here).
Very much a reactivated interest since the amazing news of the recent Kickstarter and the new book, but I never got to read the original two books anyway as I wasn't aware of their existence until years later, so I'm very much looking forward to reading the whole trilogy when its finished

Re: The Girl from Tomorrow (TV series)
Well it's a little after 17:10 on a Friday afternoon in May, so 35 years ago, I'd have been glued to The Girl From Tomorrow!
Here's the detail from the BBC archive, taken from the original TV listing in the Radio Times. Note the two mistakes, they spelt Katharine Cullen's name wrong and listed it as a 13 part series (they did the same for Tomorrow's End for some reason)
https://c.spellbinder.tv/fs/users/2146/ ... 2iZEea.jpg
I also found this little snippet of CBBC Continuity from 3/5/91 briefly talking about TGFT ahead of the show airing later, sadly not the Continuity into TGFT itself...

@All:
Speaking of books: is there any news about *A New Tomorrow*? Has the book been written yet? Any idea when it will be available for download or when it will hit the shelves? Will there be a book launch? (It would be nice if it were streamed online. It would be amazing if “Jenny” and “Alana” were there.)

There was an update posted on the KickStarter 10 days ago (May 8th) to inform backers that the writing of the new novel had officially started.
There’s nothing revising their original estimate of between December this year and February next year, so assume we’re still on for either just before or just after Christmas

Hi Fanat, spookily I'm another Astrophysicist - or at least that's what I studied at University, but I've subsequently have had a career in IT rather than staying in research!Fanat wrote: ↑11 Jun 2024, 13:54
Roja, all your messages are extremely interesting. I would consider many of them actually essays because you give so much in-depth analysis of the plots, characters, etc. I'm sorry that I don't reply to them at an appropriate level, i.e., matching the depth of your analysis. This is because I have a strict mathematical mind (I'm, by the way, an astrophysicist, and I became interested in physics thanks to Spellbinder) and it's quite difficult for people like me to formulate thoughts in a detailed way on human nature, personality, relationships, and so on.![]()
I can't claim that TGFT influenced this in anyway though as I was already into Astronomy, Computers and Science-Fiction from an early age. I have my Dad to thank for that instead!

Hi Roja,Roja wrote: ↑07 Jun 2024, 07:47I wondered after I posted last night, did anyone else on this thread also feel sad when the series ended? It was a pity that back in those days, when we didn’t have the internet, we couldn’t find other fans of the show to discuss it with… and I wish I had known, back then, that one day I would be able to get in touch with one of the show’s writers and have long conversations about it, and see exclusive behind the scenes photos!!
I think I’m probably alone in my reaction to what happened to Silverthorn…but if anyone thinks my feelings were over the top, I also remember that in the 1990s, hundreds of teenage girls were in tears and too upset to go to school after Take That split up, and there was even a hotline set up in the U.K. at the time to help those girls cope with their grief!!
I think it’s normal for teenagers to feel intensely about these things, but I just had more of a niche taste when it came to my choice of teenage crush

I can definitely relate to feeling very sad when the series ended
Much like you say, in the early 90s with no access to the internet we just didn't know what was coming on. I'd really enjoyed TGFT in 1991 and even taped the final episode which I watched back a few times, and I can remember thinking at the time wouldn't it be great if they did a follow up in Silverthorn's time(!)
But as 2 years felt like a really long time back then I'd basically forgotten about the show until the trailers came back on for the repeats. Annoyingly though I missed this, as it was shown on Saturday mornings and the one time I wasn't near a television (I also stupidly didn't tape the re-run).
And then the Summer of '93 when Tomorrow's End was first shown. I'd literally just left school, so it was that amazing long summer in between school and college and TE was a big part of that for me. It might sound a bit hyperbolic but with Tomorrow's End I don't think I've ever been so hooked in by a show from the very beginning (before or since)! We get the reprise of the events of TGFT, a pause for a split second then the title sequence where we immediately see 2500 with the broken Sydney Harbour bridge and the sinister looking building looming over it. Bearing in mind this was pretty much what I'd thought about for a 2nd series two years previously, my expectations were immediately met! Being a Sci-Fi fan already the themes of time travel paradoxes (where there is much more time travel than the first series), dystopia and the end of the world were right up my street...
Then the very emotional and bittersweet ending (there was more than just a lump in my throat at this point...) as history had been restored, but Alana and Jenny would never see each other again and for us the viewers that was the end of the story (and where could you go after saving the world and future time travel being banned anyway?) I definitely felt a real sense of loss afterwards. Again I'd only taped the last few episodes, so had to wait until early 95 for the repeat, when annoyingly the BBC only showed TE and not another repeat of TGFT. I'm not sure how many times the series got repeated in Australia and elsewhere, but it was only the two showings of each series for us in the UK

but if anyone thinks my feelings were over the top, I also remember that in the 1990s, hundreds of teenage girls were in tears and too upset to go to school after Take That split up, and there was even a hotline set up in the U.K. at the time to help those girls cope with their grief!!
