I've finally found the lookout (viewpoint in British English) location from Tomorrow's End!

This is the shot from the series:

And this is the panorama in a slightly different direction; I created it manually, putting pieces of different TV shots next to each other:

Now look at this picture!

It is exactly that place! The contours of the rock outcrop and the hills are the same!

Unfortunately I am not able to specify coordinates. However, this place is at the Slippery Dip Loop trail, the Garigal National Park. This trail is described here in detail (note a good map!). It's only 10 km long, and one needs just 3-4 hours to complete it. I'm pretty sure it's quite easy to find this rock outcrop when hiking along this loop trail. The starting point is at -33.721493, 151.230713.

Hopefully someone will get there one day and find this exact rock outcrop!

Nice detective work! That's my hiking blog you refer to - I've checked the EXIF data on the photo and the location is -33.716502, 151.235632 (https://maps.app.goo.gl/TuZmfq1W7B2pfWSA9). It woudl be about a 1.6km return walk to the lookout point from the trailhead.

Wow, great! Thanks a lot for the coordinates and especially for your blog! I came across it several times because I'm interested in such things around Sydney.

I've probably found this location:

Look at these poles:

This is Potter Point in Kurnell, the poles coordinates are -34.041165, 151.213004. The poles are actually sewer vents by the way (see here and here).

I'd say these poles are the ones from TGFT because they look identical and the surrounding scenery is very similar:

There are many panoramic photos in this area, and it is worthwhile to look at them.

I can't see that fancy sandstone formation from TGFT but it was probably destroyed by somebody or eroded by strong Pacific winds.

The other thing to be noted is that there are 6 poles in TGFT but only 5 in recent photos. Well, one of them was probably removed - and there is actually a very short tube in photos, it's what might have been left from that.

I'm still not 100% sure that it is TGFT place but I have a very strong feeling that it is that place indeed. If anyone finds the pictures of this place taken in the 2000s or before, please tell us here. The other approach is to contact someone who was involved into TGFT filming. ;)

Wow, great research again, Fanat!!

To be honest though, I’m thinking that it might not be the same location but a similar looking one with the same type of sewage vents as the location in the show. The reason for my doubts is because of the different number of vents and, to me, the rock formations look too different.

I realise that rocks can change a lot through erosion if they are by the sea, but not so much that the large sandstone formation (which would have taken MILLIONS of years to form!) would have completely vanished 3 decades later. Either that, or it is the filming location, but the sandstone rock was added via special effects?

But even if it’s not the actual location, I think it’s very likely that it’s close by to where the filming location was, as the area looks so similar. As I haven’t been to Australia, I have no idea if that style of sewage vents is rare or common in the NSW region.

Speaking of the sewage vents, in the context of the Tomorrow’s End story, my assumption when I saw them was that they were the skeleton of Nik’s building, and that the Great Disaster had vaporised everything else!! But it was weird that just those 4 bits of metal were left standing! Also when I think about it now, it is strange that the natural rocks survived but not any man-made structures.

Edited to add: Another reason I think it might not be the same location is because the Turimetta Beach filming location (with photos back on page 7 of this thread) is virtually identical today, despite the sea there being quite volatile, so I don’t believe that the filming location of the destroyed version of the year 3000 could have changed so much in 35 years.

You found it! I had no idea where this was. I was looking for it for years. It's featured in other Australian productions too.
Next time I'm around that area, I'll take lots of photos!

Are you talking about Garigal National Park or Potter Point? Either way, it would be fantastic to see your photos! 🤩

As I said, I’m not sure if Potter Point was the filming location as the rocks look different to me, but I think if you went there you would be able to tell for sure whether it was the filming location or not.

I meant Potter Point, that shot was so cool and I always wondered where it was.

I'm in Japan at the moment and managed to come across the VHS Japanese dub version of the Girl From Tomorrow (it translates to Girlfriend is from the future). It's the movie version, but I'm super interested to see how it sounds and if there are any differences.
