Yoshimura has asked me to post his photos of the Japanese VHS as he has limited internet where he’s staying.

It’s a pity that Japanese audiences only got to see the abridged film version! Maybe if the complete series had been shown over there, the show might have been more popular in Japan, as it was in several countries outside Australia (The UK, Ireland, Canada, Hungary, Iran, Croatia and Bangladesh are the ones I know of).

Thank you Roja!

It's actually possible that the entire series DID get dubbed and broadcast in Japan, but there are no records. I know Spellbinder was, it was barely remembered, but there is a very small fan base they remembers and loves it (one created a fan site in the early 2000s.
If it was broadcast, it would've been on NHK I'm guessing 🤔

Hi everyone! Sorry for answering that late but I had a lot of things to deal with all that time.

The reason for my doubts is because of the different number of vents and, to me, the rock formations look too different.
Well, one of the vents could be removed so I don't see any problem with that... As for the rock formations, yes, this is an important thing. I'd say that it'd be great to visit this place and to explore it. There is a chance to find there the same photo angle as in TGFT. As for me, the number of photos of this place on Google Maps is not so large to compare them to TGFT frames so currently I can't say being fully confident if Potter Point is TGFT location or it is not.
I realise that rocks can change a lot through erosion if they are by the sea, but not so much that the large sandstone formation (which would have taken MILLIONS of years to form!) would have completely vanished 3 decades later.
Yes, indeed! However, that rock could be quite unstable already in the 90's so erosion within a few years could, in theory, destroy it.

Yoshimura and Roja, thank you very much for the Japanese VHS photos!

It's taken a while, but I've finally managed to digitise the Japanese dub of The Girl From Tomorrow. I've kept the link off public to avoid copyright strikes, but here is the direct link to YouTube:

I had already watched the Japanese dub before Yoshimura posted the link here. Again, it was a pity to see so much of the story, character development and comedy scenes cut out in the abridged version… I felt so sorry for viewers in Japan who never got to watch the whole series!! And two of the scenes that featured on the Japanese VHS cover (Silverthorn scaring Petey with his laser gun and Silverthorn stealing the Transducer) weren’t included in the abridged version!

But it was fun seeing the Japanese voice actors interpretations of the characters voices. Jenny’s voice actress I thought gave a more vulnerable edge to Jenny as her voice had less toughness and more fear than Melissa Marshall’s. Silverthorn’s voice actor was perfect for the part (I loved his growls, and his roar of pain when Arva overheated his arm with her Transducer!!) and the greengrocer had a fantastically angry voice!! 🤣

But for me the most fun thing about the Japanese dub was how they added different music over the original music for some of the scenes, notably the scene where the Time Capsule had crash landed in the rubbish dump, and when Jenny and Alana were escaping on Jenny’s bike from Silverthorn and Eddie in the limo. I guess this was done to make those scenes feel extra dramatic/scary, and I really liked the music!
