And then the Summer of '93 when Tomorrow's End was first shown. I'd literally just left school, so it was that amazing long summer in between school and college and TE was a big part of that for me. It might sound a bit hyperbolic but with Tomorrow's End I don't think I've ever been so hooked in by a show from the very beginning (before or since)! We get the reprise of the events of TGFT, a pause for a split second then the title sequence where we immediately see 2500 with the broken Sydney Harbour bridge and the sinister looking building looming over it. Bearing in mind this was pretty much what I'd thought about for a 2nd series two years previously, my expectations were immediately met! Being a Sci-Fi fan already the themes of time travel paradoxes (where there is much more time travel than the first series), dystopia and the end of the world were right up my street...

I saw in those days “The Girl from Tomorrow” listed in the TV guide and thought it was a rerun. I was excited to see the show again and became even happier when it turned out it wasn't a rerun but a real sequel, Part 2, with 12 new episodes.

Yes that was incredibly exciting! As per the discussion further up the thread, depending on the channel I have seen Tomorrow's End listed as The Girl From Tomorrow so there was never 100% consistency as to whether it was considered Season/Series 2 of TGFT or it's own show

I see Idiot Box Books are now shipping the Goodnight Sweetheart & Jonathan Creek books it has published via Kickstarter. We'll have our The Girl From Tomorrow book in our hands too before we know it.

I’ve been in touch with Nicholas/Nick McCallum, the Production Designer for both series, and he has found Dale Ferguson’s architectural drawings for the design of the Time Capsule and the Time Lab!!



He said it was fine to share them, so if anyone has the space at home and the skills to build a replica Time Capsule (or can afford to pay a builder to make one) then now you can!!

The numbering on these drawings indicates he did more. I wonder do they still exist?

I did however manage to find a very short snippet of information about Katharine enjoying playing tennis- this was from a 1991 issue of Lookin (a British kids/teenage magazine)…

I've got some more snippets of the TGFT listings in Look-In (sadly only 3, and 1 is the same as you found). These have been sat in my Parent's loft for 30 odd years and got sent over the other week

Although for that last one, the listing doesn't relate to what happens in the final episode at all. Perhaps they got it mixed up with Episode 10 ('Betrayed') as that sounds like a better fit?

Yes, I agree that the last one should be actually for episode 10.

Unfortunately, I can't find the scans of the 1991 issues of this magazine on the Internet. Interestingly, many older issues can be found, e.g., here. Anyway, true fans can buy the 1991 issues on eBay.

Yes, I did try the Internet Archive but sadly as you've found the later editions have not been uploaded.

From memory though I think those 3 might have been the only TGFT snippets from the original run in the UK in 1991. It wasn't a full TV listing and they rotated the programmes featured every week.

What might be interesting would be the issues of Look-In from July/August 1993 when Tomorrow's End was broadcast, there would probably be at least one listing, and given how popular the original series was, there might well have been a larger feature marking its return.

It was my Brother who got Look-In (even though I probably read it more than he did!) and he'd stopped getting it by 1993 so I never saw those issues. The only way to get hold of them now would be to purchase from Ebay...
